Vistas Lifelong Learning provides Santa Barbara area residents with a variety of intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking courses with the goal of extending knowledge, enriching lives and fostering community. Topics include history, philosophy, science, literature, art, cinema, public policy, and others.
Our classes emphasize informal lectures often presented by Vistas members and/or outside experts who volunteer to present material developed out of their own particular interest or expertise. Click here to view our upcoming courses.
Courses generally vary in length from one to five weekly sessions running in 2.5-hour time slots in either the morning or afternoon. Recent class venues have included the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum, the Music Academy of the West, and the Goleta Valley Public Library.
Class size is limited at the discretion of the presenter and each session includes a break for refreshments. Vistas members tend to be well-educated and have rich life experience, and lively discussions continue through refreshment breaks and after class.
